Who are we?
Due to the current economic downturn, a rising number of families and individuals are seeking public and private financial assistance to maintain housing; sadly those with fewer resources have moved to local shelters and have joined 6000 homeless individuals in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg. In March 2009, unemployment hit 25 years high with a 10.4% and unemployment benefits are rapidly running out.
Federal, state and non-profit organizations are restructuring their scope and financial resources to address this crisis. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, enacted by President Barack Obama entitled Charlotte with $1.9 million to assist individuals and families with financial assistance. The purpose of the project is to provide financial assistance to prevent homelessness or assist individuals and families temporarly homeless with rapid re-housing assistance.
